Citrus Medica Etrog

A fruit better known to most consumers in it’s preserved rather than its natural form. Asian people prize the citron for its fragrance, to perfume the air with its intoxicating lemon scent. The citron is a slow growing shrub 6′ to 10′ with stiff branching, the leaves are shiny evergreen and highly lemon scented 4″ to 7″ long. The fruit is fragrant and oblong to oval, the skin can be smooth to rough and bumpy occuring on the same tree, its flesh is pale yellow divided into 14 to 15 segments, its pulp is not juicy and its thick rind is candied, flavoring for meats and vegetables. Itss bark, twigs, branches and leaves are used for its oil content for the French purfume industry. Exceptionally fragrant!
