January 27, 2026Canna Lily ‘Indian Shot’ (Canna indica)
$9.00
3 inch pot or single rhizome
The classic ‘Indian Shot’ Canna is named so for the small shot pellet shaped seeds, but has a long, long heritage as being used as a staple food source in South America where it is from. This Canna species provides fast growing blooms of bright red, though the flower top is smaller than other popular Canna hybrids.. This is often planted for large borders or at the edge of wetland. Meanwhile, what makes this a botanical curiosity is that the leaves and rhizome have been used as a food source. The leaves are solid thick green and can be used to wrap tamales! The rhizome can be baked, boiled or mashed… Hardy to 10°F (depending on soil type), but the leaves will die back below below 40°F
