A semi deciduous medium height tree with swollen thorny trunks, native to South America. They are free flowering with large flowers coloured cerise and white with brownish speckled like markings, flowering summer to fall putting on a spectacular show when in full flower. Grows in climates from temperate to tropical. Can withstand light frost!
