An evergreen shrub in varying height and growth habit, normally seen growing near coastline beaches throughout semi to tropical Americas and Caribbean. In late summer it bears large grape-like clusters and ripens to a purplish color. The fruits may be eaten raw, cooked into jellies/jams or fermented into sea grape wine. Easy to grow/very drought tolerant.
