The most hardy Heliconia there is! Can survive temps down to 10 degrees F. Provides huge leaves and the flower is a thin opened bract. Its bracts are red and sepals yellow green. it does take 2 years of growth to produce flowers. This plant comes from Southern Mexico but has been cultivated in throughout the southern USA – California, Florida, Texas, Louisiana and Arizona. Height 5′ to 8′. The key to survival: keep the soil dry in winter.
