Surinam Cherry Eugenia Uniflora

A small tropical to subtropical native to Brazil growing to 20’ @ it’s best , it has pointed ,ovate- lanceolate leaves turning red during cool to cold weather, also its leaves contain essential oils containing citronella, cineole and turpentine, fruits are round, red to dark red, deeply longitudinal grooved berries. Very juicy and have a very high vitamin C content, in Brazil the juice is sometimes fermented into wine and vinegar, tolerates drought and grows in almost any type soil with sun to partial sun. Zone 8 and higher. A delicious treat!
